Today's Tropical Shores Steel Drums features Brad and Erica Shores performing a vibrant "island jazz" sound. Brad plays lead steel pan and keyboard while Erica play the "double seconds" steel pan drums. They love to play for any kind of an event where an "Island atmosphere" would add to the party. They also enjoy doing educational programs for groups wishing to add special music to the event. They use "edutainment" which is a combination of music and education about the steel pan drum. Tropical Shores Steel drums is now based in Estero, Florida.
Jaimie Shores, the oldest daughter of Brad and Linda, has carried on the "family business" by starting her own steel drum band called, "Island Shores"

Tropical Shores Steel Drum Band was formed in the fall of 1989 by Brad and Linda Shores in Nickerson, KS. They had just moved back to their home state of Kansas after living in Phoenix from 1983-1989. While in Phoenix, the Shores saw a steel drum band performing and decided to buy some and learn to play them. As luck would have it, they found Jim Taylor of JT's Island Steel and began to perform with him.
Brad and Linda performed as Tropical Shores with their 3 children during the 2000s to around 2012 when the kids started to get older and move away to start their own lives. The Shores moved to Haven, KS in 2000 and joined the music staff in the Haven USD. Then, from 2012 to 2014, Brad and Linda performed as a duet with backing tracks at many events including the Kansas State fair. In October 2012, Linda was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away in March of 2014, devastating all who knew her.
In May of 2014, Brad continued to perform as the lone member of Tropical Shores Steel Drums and left Haven to be the Athletic Band director and Steel drum Director at Bethel College in North Newton, KS.
Brad married Erica Nance in November of 2021 at Fort Myers Beach, FL and they moved to Estero in May of 2023 to begin their "island life"
